Below is a list of frequently used terms of CBD Industry

CBD
CBD (cannabidiol) is a natural compound found in hemp and marijuana plants. Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD is not psychoactive. CBD has properties that provide several health benefits.

CBD Oil
CBD Oil is a natural oil that is derived from the cannabis plant, containing some concentration of cannabidiol (CBD).

Cannabidiol
Cannabidiol is one of the 113 cannabinoids found in cannabis plants and accounts for 40% of the plant’s extract. Hemp plants are high in cannabidiol.

Cannabinoids
Cannabinoids are the neurotransmitters of the endocannabinoid system. Cannabinoids influence these receptors that are located throughout the body and brain. There are two types of cannabinoids: The cannabinoids produced by your body are called endocannabinoids, and the cannabinoids produced by plants are called phytocannabinoids. The cannabinoids of CBD mimic the effects of the endocannabinoids that are needed in your body and help maintain a balanced endocannabinoid system.

Cannabis
The cannabis plant belongs to the family Cannabaceae. There are two main species of cannabis: Cannabis indica and Cannabis sativa. Hemp and marijuana are classified based on their THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) content. Hemp contains less than . 3% THC, while marijuana contains 5-30% THC, classifying it as a drug.

Endocannabinoid System
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a biological system that helps to regulate eating, sleeping, relaxing, immunity, and memory function. When this system is balanced, it is experiencing homeostasis.

Hemp
Hemp is the non-psychoactive cannabis plant. Hemp is different than marijuana due to its low THC content (less than .3% THC).

Hemp Oil
Hemp Seed Oil does not contain cannabidiol. Hemp seed oil is useful in food preparation and cosmetics.

Industrial Hemp
Industrial Hemp is a low-quality source of CBD Oil. It is grown specifically for its incorporation into a range of products.

Entourage Effect
The entourage effect is the combination of cannabinoids and terpenes. When these compounds work together, they multiply the effects of other compounds.

Full-Spectrum
The property of the plant that contains the plant terpenes, unsaturated hydrocarbons, and flavonoids of the original plant source. Individuals looking to benefit from the entourage effect should chose full spectrum CBD products.

Broad Spectrum
Broad Spectrum CBD is similar to Full Spectrum CBD, as it contains the other compounds found within the plant. However in Broad Spectrum, THC is completely removed. This ensures there is no risk of any psychoactive effects.

Isolate
Isolate is cannabidiol in its purest form. In order to obtain this form, full-spectrum CBD is processed to remove the plant’s oils, waxes, chlorophyll and other materials. Isolate products avoid any trace of THC and are products containing more than 99% pure CBD.

Marijuana
Marijuana is a psychoactive cannabinoid that binds to the CB1 receptors in the brain. Marijuana contains 5-30% of the cannabinoid THC.

MCT Oil
MCT stands for medium chain triglycerides. MCT oil is a natural product made from coconut oil. MCTs have several health benefits.

Pure CBD Oil
Pure CBD oil is created using CBD isolate with MCT oil and anhydrous hemp oil. It is the opposite of a full-spectrum product. Choosing this product assures that you are consuming a THC-free product. In addition, it can be added to foods and/or beverages.

Terpenes
Terpenes are a compound that are also found in the cannabis plant. The entourage effect is as a result of the interaction between terpenes and other compounds from cannabis, which increase the effects of CBD.

Tinctures
A tincture is a liquid, typically an oil or alcohol base, that has been infused with CBD oil. They are usually taken by mouth, allowing the CBD to be absorbed easily. Tinctures can be made with both full-spectrum CBD oil or CBD isolates.

THC
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is one of the 113 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. It is the principal psychoactive compounds found in cannabis, causing the “high” experienced from the use of marijuana.

Topicals
Topical CBD products include skin creams, balms, salves and oils. When applied, it has been shown to have skin-soothing properties. Topicals can be applied to direct targeted areas.

Vaping
Vaping is the act of inhaling CBD oil that is heated at a temperature where it evaporates into gas. Vaping CBD has a fast onset time.

Wax
CBD wax can be used to create a tincture or can be heated in a process called dabbing, a similar form to vaping. Waxes are obtained from a process called chromatography.
